Math Matters

I have never been very good with math and neither has math been any good with me.
In school, I didn't 'know' that one was supposed to go home and practice the math that was done in class. My math note book only saw the daylights while in the classroom or at home while I did my homework. Though the homework was never a problem, Exams weren't very good either.
I'd always get a near above average score, until class 3 when all the complications of the world decided to come date me!
We began with the Multiplication tables in class 2 and by class 3 we were expected too have them on the tips of our tongues.
One fateful Math Oral exam day in class 3, my teacher asked me to say the table of 9.
I wondered for a minute or two and then promptly said, "Miss, I know the 3 table! 3 ones are 3. 3 twos are 6. 3 threes are 9..."
My teacher, surprised as she was, sternly said," 9! The table of 9! NOW!"
I proceeded to say, "I don't know miss..."

All that my teacher could do was say,"Go back to your seat..."

Thank you ma'am for not making me pee my pants there... I know the Table of 9 now! :D

However it didn't end there...
The torture of Multiplication tables continued in class 4, where we had to learn them from 11 to 20
11, 12, 15 and 20 were never a problem...
and 14, 16, 17, 18, 19 I never bothered enough to learn...
I tried learning 13 though and on another Math oral exam day I was asked for the table of 13.
With an unbeatable confidence, I began," 13 ones are 13, 13 twos are 26, 13 threes are 39, 13 fours are I DON'T KNOW!... *Silence*
and ma'am said, "Go back to your seat..."

I still don't know the table of 13 ma'am... Sorry... :(

Pitter, Patter Raindrops...

Charlie Chaplin said, " I love walking in the rain, 'cause no one knows I'm crying..."
No disrespect to the legend; but the quote is such a lie and one big cliche!
It's been used, overused and been brought to the point of abuse...

Since it rained here last night, I thought I might as well pluck a few strings about it.
People around the world may say different things about the rain...
To some it may symbolize a broken heart, to others it may be a new beginning...
For me, however,the Rain was, is and will always remain the purest form of all positive emotions...

In my opinion, no one understands the true meaning of the Monsoons better than an Indian.
For a farmer, it's prosperity;
For the working class person tired of the heat and dealing with more than frequent powercuts, it's relief;
For the footballer jocks on the college grounds, it's the true Awesomeness of the game;
For the girl head over heels in love with that guy who doesn't notice her, it's just another reason to miss him;
For the dry parched land, it's the promise of a new fresh green coat...
For the little ones, it's splash time!!!

The monsoons hold so much for everyone, everything... It is so giving, so generous...
How then can it be associated with a broken heart and a tear stained face?
The rain always leaves behind a rainbow; how then does it symbolize sorrow and gloom?
And how can anyone forget the lightning? The immensely beautiful bright cracks in the overcast night sky. Isn't it a spark of hope in the dark?

So, this monsoon promise the rains you won't hate it when it drenches you... Let any negativity you feel dissolve in the rain and wash away... and let this monsoon promise you a new beginning... <3

P.S.:My local train traveler friends, when your train gets water logged this monsoon, please don't curse the rains... Curse the government and the infrastructure instead... :p
